Not sure how they'd handle revenue sharing
ReportQuestion
Please briefly explain why you feel this question should be reported.
I've a ton of RS3 gold super nooby minutes in memory, but some favs - in'06/07 - being a f2p noob and thinking that abyssal whips were really sausage links and wondering why so many people were running about wielding sausage links too, the classic trading out my full mithril to have it trimmed and never seeing it and being heartbroken. Rather than understanding how combat lvls worked and wanting mine to seem"red" (greater lvled) to individuals if they right clicked me. So I remember walking about lumbridge as a lvl 11, asking people"whats my combat? Is my lvl red?".
And THEN in 2015 - I arrived back into RS(3) briefly after not having touched RuneScape at all since 2011. So I went to the g/e to catch some gear, I wanted to train a little bit of slayer. Bandos platelegs are a thing today?! And they're so cheap?! dank." So I bought them. Until I finally realized that they were really only rune platelegs?? and wore them for a good while (thanks to the RS3 images and me probably being high and most importantly, ugh).Runescape needs players Place RuneScape on Epic and steam games Shop
You know these places both take reductions from the revenue generated by revenue through their platforms right? They don't do it and jagex is big enough to not receive any particular status. Steam require heroic require 12% and a cut. There is no way they don't attempt to create money from sales runescape creates through their shop. Thus from jagex's position, they will need to understand that being on these stores would make them more money than it's likely to cost to have on them and go through all the logistics required for that. Keep the gains in house and it's probably better to spend money.
In case RuneScape does move on Steam, they will definitely get enough new players to earn enough money which the 30% would be a non-factor. Can't talk for Epic though even though it is just 12%, they might not be able to recover the cost should they go on there. Personally though, I'd rather they wait until Runescape 4 (About 2023 is my quote ) which hopefully has enough contemporary mechanisms to allow it to compete with other MMORPGs. It would be pointless. Large access is provided by game stores but do not have.
It might be rapid short-term gain, but any new individual wouldn't be expecting this type of game to be in the shop leading to only F2P or just 1/2 month subscription. Then you may have to deal with the negative reviews which are likely to come out of them because RS is a really slow build up to end-game content when compared with the normal action-packed or speedy gratification of their other games on the stage. Would being on steam automatically give enough money? We aren't just discussing the cut, we are discussing the money spent making RuneScape fulfill the prerequisites steam has.
I don't know exactly what they are but they are at least likely to include composing a launcher that can work through steam. Steam also distributes updates for games on the platform so again you have to get a way to get the update. Not impossible jobs although not 5 minute ones either. And that means you have to ask, what could it perform? Runescape's problem isn't that people haven't heard of RuneScape - it's that people do not wish to play it. Even individuals who have never played an MMORPG in their life have heard of runescape.
The issue is getting them to perform, would being on things like steam help that? But it's not sure. I might be speaking out of my bum, however, steam has games with their own launchers. The RuneScape client has its own launcher, only with no user interface. They would just have to get the wrapper on steam/epic, and that would just need to be updated when there are major client updates where you have to redownload it from the website (which doesn't happen frequently, right?). Not sure how they'd handle revenue sharing. All RuneScape purchases are done not and through a weblink in RuneScape match, but they buy RuneScape gold might mplement a steam store.
